It’s become a hallowed tradition: a photographer captures the handing over of the keys to the first customer of a new EV just hitting the market. Thus, the car company turns the event into a photo op, and a way to announce that the battery-powered car is officially on sale. Volkswagen, weeks away from offering the 2015 E-Golf to customers, is putting a new spin on selecting the first buyer of its first electric car by offering it to the highest bidder in a charity auction.
Volkswagen of America and Global Green USA (http://www.globalgreen.org/) today announced the launch of the E-Golf auction. Proceeds will benefit Global Green USA, a national environmental non-profit. The auction is already live at: Charitybuzz.com/vwegolf (http://www.charitybuzz.com/vwegolf).
