Above is video (and see test drive video at the bottom) from the Tesla Motors' event last night in Hawthorne, California, dubbed the "unveil the D and something else." The "D" represents a dual-electric motor option providing all-wheel drive for the Model S and its 60, 85 and Performance 85 model.
The "insane" reference relates to the cited 3.2 seconds to go from 0 to 60 in this new all-wheel drive and, by the way, to achieve the 3.2 you designate the driving mode to "insane"—after regular and sport. Ha.

But I really liked the self-driving portion of the video, which starts around 6:15. Yes, this self-driving technology is on other gas cars but I haven't heard of an autonomous car pulling out of you garage ahead of your lunch appointment, ready to go, sir? Cool technology, car nerd nirvana.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see how the added costs plays out from a company revenue angle. $120,000 is the price for an updated performance Model S AWD and this positions it squarely against BMW's i8.
