2017 Volkswagen E-Golf

Volkswagen announced last week that the new 2017 Volkswagen E-Golf will increase its driving range by 50 percent compared to the outgoing 2016 model. The 2017 E-Golf will use a 35.8-kWh battery pack to provide an EPA-estimate average driving range of 125 miles—offering 130.3 miles in the city and 117.7 miles in highway driving.
The 2017 E-Golf goes on sales in the spring. Pricing has not yet been announced. (Pricing for the 2016 model, which provides 83 miles of range, started at about $30,000 before incentives.)
The E-Golf’s bigger battery puts the VW electric car in second place for range among affordable electric models. The Chevy Bolt, with 238 miles of range, has an impressive advantage for range. Yet, models like the 124-mile Hyundai Ioniq and 114-mile BMW i3 are arguably nicer overall vehicles in terms of creature comforts, design and driving manners. (Tesla models, while offering around 300 miles of range, begin around $70,000 and commonly sell for around $100,000.)
